The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is starting a new study. Each year, the members take the time to study each of the sacred scriptures. Last year, it was focused on the theme of Come unto Christ and a study through the New Testament. Following the same theme, this year is a study through the Book of Mormon.
How the Book of Mormon makes a spiritual impact and influence
Studying the Book of Mormon will help individuals enrich their relationship with Jesus Christ. It will bless lives where a person is able to have a significant spiritual influence and impact.
“I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.”(History of the Church, 4:461.)
As you focus on making a significant spiritual impact and influence – think about how the Book of Mormon may play a role in enhancing one’s spiritual disciplines to fully come unto Christ. It is not just merely reading through this sacred text of scripture. As one reads, meditate and prayerfully seek ways to apply the teachings into your life. Invite the power of the Holy Spirit to witness to you of the testimonies contained within the text.
Throughout this week, it is recommended to read the following:
- Title Page
- The Three Witnesses
- The Eight Witnesses
- Joseph Smith’s Testimony
- A Brief Explanation of the Book of Mormon
Focus on prayerfully meditating on these pages. What significant spiritual impact and influence do these pages provide us? How may we come away with how the Book of Mormon is powerful enough to strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ?
The Book of Mormon and the “Plan of Salvation”
Based on the introduction of the Book of Mormon, we understand the significant role it plays in helping us understand God’s divine plan for us. How significant of a spiritual impact and influence does it have on your life – knowing God’s divine plan for you? Central to God’s divine plan is – Jesus Christ:
The most important principle, of course, is acceptance of Jesus Christ as the literal Son of God and the Savior of the world. To this principle, the Book of Mormon bears a second witness in dozens of instances. Its primary objective is to convince Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God. This correct second witness has become more and more valuable as the world has increasingly entertained various alternate opinions of Jesus. The Book of Mormon proclaims him to be more than a great teacher, or a great philosopher, or a great moral and ethical proclaimer. These opinions have replaced Isaiah’s prophetic designation of the Christ as “Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isa. 9:6.) In making a substitution, splintered Christianity has assimilated fragments of philosophies and rituals that took the place of original Christian unity and the plan of salvation. For those with eyes to see and ears to hear, the Book of Mormon corrects the false doctrine and affirms the true.Monte Nyman – The Most Correct Book
Understanding the principle truth’s of God’s divine plan for us gives us the encouragement we need to endure. To grow in faith, and to develop spiritual resilience. It takes us on our own personal spiritual pilgrimage where we encounter adversity, challenges, and face them with faith and grace.
